The BCV Foundation was created in 1995 to commemorate BCV’s 150th anniversary. Operating as a separate legal entity from the Bank, it supports outreach and charity initiatives, cultural projects, and academic research programs. The Foundation provides funding to one or two projects per year in each of these three areas, distributing the proceeds granted to it by BCV.
The Foundation has donated over CHF 10 million since it was created, helping the beneficiaries take their ambitious projects forward.
The Foundation looks for local projects with clear objectives, a defined end-date, and a realistic budget. The projects must also be entirely new. Selection criteria include how innovative and creative they are and the extent to which they serve the public good.
The Foundation Board comprises between five and nine members appointed by BCV, including three individuals who represent Vaud's charitable, cultural, and research circles. The Board selects which projects to fund each year.
